About Planning

Planning consent is generally required before most forms of development can be legally undertaken.

The parish council is often asked how planning applications are reviewed and judged. Parish councillors don't approve or reject applications, but provide local advice to Basingstoke. Planning Guidelines used by councillors to evaluate individual planning applications can be viewed below.

Residents can visit the borough council offices and informally meet a planning officer for advice and guidance.

Within the Ashmansworth Conservation Area, all trees above 7.5cm diameter measured 1.5m above ground level are protected and must not be felled or trimmed without consent - protected trees.
