Football visits
Football!
On 26 October 2021, we had another visit from the Portobello Trust in London, with a coach load of children to play football with local teams on our recreation ground and refreshments in our village hall. By all accounts it was a most enjoyable occasion:
Coach Charlie:
Our trip to Ashmansworth village was a great success. We don’t really get a chance to take the boys out of the London area so they were super excited to be traveling by coach to the countryside. Also it was great to see the U12 boys mixing and having fun with the younger U7 boys.
On arrival the boys got to play some fun games and light training activities before the matches took place against Ollie's team. The matches were played on a round robin basis where both sets of players were eager to show off their skills and goal scoring abilities. Both sets of players worked very hard and were treated to a well-earned spread of delicious food and drink after the games. Players of the day from both teams were given a brand new football to take home.
On the journey back to London and within an hour of travel most of the boys were asleep as the exertions of the day took its toll.
They had a fantastic experience and would like to say a big thank you to Flora, Ollie and Gig for everything!
Ethan (U7 player):
I loved going on the coach, when got there we played on the Village Green which was big!, I also scored and liked the food after the game. I would really like to come back again
Portobello Trust
On 29 July 2021, we had a lovely visit by two coach loads of children from London, arranged by the Rugby Portobello Trust. They really enjoyed playing in our fresh air and a special lunch - see video. We look forward to welcoming them back here for football in October!
