King Charles III Coronation Celebration Event Sunday 7th May 2023

We were delighted to have such a huge turnout to our village event on Sunday 7th May. The weather was beautiful and the day enjoyed by all. Our thanks to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for their financial support of a £500 grant.

Annual Flower Show and Fete

This year we were delighted to be able to hold our traditional summer flower show without Covid restrictions on the first Saturday of August (6th). Due to quite a few families being away on holiday, it was decided to centre the event on the Village Hall, with a street party outside and games for children and dogs on the memorial green.

The exhibits at the show were up to their normal brilliant standard, a delicious lunch was served, followed later by cream teas in a tent in the hall garden and the dogs all behaved very well in their various classes. The weather was hot and everyone had a thoroughly good time.

Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Ashmansworth celebrated the Jubilee with two major celebrations: Lighting of our Beacon at Lower Manor Farm on Thursday 2nd June and a splendid street party with hog roast outside the village hall on Sunday 5th June, with mugs given to all the children. Both were very well attended occasions, with around 70 villagers and it was great to meet up again after so long apart due to the Covid restrictions.

Remembrance Service 2021

We had a good turnout of around 80 at our war memorial. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the church and the parish.

On Remembrance Day itself, a myriad of knitted poppies were embedded in a net spread over the memorial. These were all created by our villagers and made an evocative sight! Many thanks to Ann Rowe for organising this.
