Parish councils are empowered to raise money for their activities through a tax, known as the Precept, levied on village residents and collected on their behalf by the borough council as an addition to the District and County Council Tax. This is then paid to the parish council. This forms the core of the parish council's income. Other income is generally generated by grants. We also receive a small (c.£300) grant for grss cutting.
In the financial year 2025/26 our precept is £5200. See here for council tax charges and bands.
The Clerk is the Responsible Financial Officer for the parish council, and as such provides a full list of income and expenditure at each council meeting which is duly approved by councillors and included within the final published minutes.
Each year, the council is audited by an internal auditor, and our detailed accounts can be viewed by clicking the subpages under Accounts.
